Rebus

I went to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey today, as you can probably tell.

Transcripts

VYKUS: My turn: I can be cracked and made, I can be told and played. What am I?

SACKLEY: A bell?

VYKUS: Ooh, "tolled". Good try, but no.

SACKLEY: An egg?

VYKUS: Wrong again.

SACKLEY: ...the wind?

VYKUS: What?

SACKLEY: ADVENTURERS!

VYKUS: Nope, that's not it either. You're terrible at this.

A Jolly Old Knight Enters!

I liked The Hobbit. Some people thought it was too long, or that it had too much fighting and action, but as far as I’m concerned, these movies are all about soaking in the Middle-Earth atmosphere, so really long is really good. I just make sure to not drink anything for hours before seeing it.

.. Eh. The movie’s good by itself, but it’s not the Hobbit I went to see. Extra stuffed in that wasn’t in the book, stuff that I was waiting for because I loved the scene ripped out.

That’s the reason I made sure not to re-read the book before I went to see An Unexpected Journey – I made that mistake with The Two Towers, and rather than enjoying the movie I spent most of it being annoyed at the things that were different from the book. One of the main cuts I noticed from my (hazy) recollection was the wight barrow bit, which is where they actually found Glamdring, Orcrist and Sting in the book.
